A DEADLY batch of cucumbers has killed one person and left hundreds of others ill with salmonella poisoning.
The contaminated cucumbers were sold in US supermarkets after being grown in Mexico.
Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce, responsible for the distribution, have now recalled the batch.
Of the 285 victims, half are thought to be children.
A 99-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, died on August 17 after falling violently ill.
Salmonella is a potentially fatal type of food poisoning, but it usually lasts between four days and week.
It causes severe vomiting, diarrhea and fever and, in more vulnerable victims, can kill.
